One New South Wales north coast blueberry grower has lost more than $1 million worth of fruit from the recent hailstorm. Otto Saeck of Blueberry Fields says the loss has been devastating. He says it will take a long time to recover from this storm and others in the past.

"When we do our budgeting we budget for no income or for a failed season once in every five years, but we've had three failed years now in five years," he said. "When you get hail damage it's not just loss of income, you've got to re-establish yourself, you've got to get your plants back and in our case you have to replant many of the damaged plants."
